Welcome!

The purpose of this blog is to give Guilford County School's Art Educators a place to communicate their thoughts and share ideas. I enjoyed reading all of the terrific comments that were being delivered through email and felt that as professionals we needed a place to discuss what is on our minds.

We learn so much from one another. For many of us, we are the only visual arts teacher in our school. It is so rewarding when we get a chance to get together and talk about art, what is working well in our classrooms and what needs improvement. In addition to monthly meetings, this blog can be a source for discussions that can't wait until the next meeting.

Please don't think of this as one more thing that you have to put on your Things To Do List. Respond if you feel like it, share some pictures if you have time, but otherwise just consider this a professional forum for your voice.

NCAEA Conference in New Bern

If you attended this year's 2010 NCAEA Conference in New Bern, do you have any intereting topics or photos that you would like to share with us? Did you find any new products that were advertised by the vendors that we should look for?

  1. 100 Visual Journals for North Carolina

The goal of this project is to provide a forum for the citizens in the communities of North Caroina to creatively share with one another. this year long collaborative process will attempt to fill one visual journal for each county in our state.

You are invited to add to this journal. Write a story, poem, idea or opinion... draw, paint, cut and glue something...Anything goes... Really!!!

The guradian of this journal will then chaperone it to another friend or soon-to-be-friend and the adventure will be encouraged to continue.

    DO NOT BE AFRAID!!!
No one will judge you in here. you will have an entire community along for the journey. This journal is for your state. this journal is for your county. this journal is for you. Share a part of yourself with us.

If you or your students would like to make some pages in the journal please let me know and I will send the journal to you.

  2. This is a great idea! Would it be open to middle and elementary art too? I can mention it to the elem folks if you want and we can bring it up at our next secondary art meeting.
    thanks!
